I am a trained and experienced freelance proofreader and copy-editor and can check your work to ensure that it is free from errors, ambiguities and inconsistencies. Where you need more help, for example if English is not your native language, I can also make sure that your work is in natural English and flows freely.

- Track Changes on Microsoft Word
- the British Standards Institution’s proofreading symbols for working on paper
- PDF commenting tools for working on PDF documents
- if you’re happy to let me loose on your website’s back end, I can even work directly on your website’s content management system.

A bit about me personally
I have a BA Honours Degree in Modern Languages and a Masters with Distinction in Information and Library Management. I have many years’ experience of managing and publishing information in-house mainly, but not exclusively, in the not-for-profit sector. I have also taught English as a foreign language. After a career break to look after my family, I am now working as a freelance proofreader and copy-editor.
I am an Intermediate Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP), and recently took their three-part proofreading course to formally certify my skills. The first part is self-marked, and the second and third parts are assessed and marked by a tutor. I received a Merit pass (over 80%) on the second part, and a Distinction pass (over 90%) on the third. This shows that I am highly competent, that I learned as I progressed through the three courses and that I put what I learned into practice. I am happy to share any of my qualifications with you. I am currently working through the first part of the CIEP’s copy-editing course.
